Audio and Video Forensics

Video evidence is ubiquitous today, and the majority of our actions are captured through some mechanism of video surveillance or audio recording when at home or in public. From home surveillance systems, ATMs, traffic cameras, convenience stores. In banks and parks, video surveillance systems are everywhere. Moreover, the presence and use of cellular phone cameras and video extend this already universal surveillance to nearly all areas of our lives. Although less pervasive, perhaps equally as important when it does exist are audio recordings that may be part of video footage or separate from areas such as 911 calls, voicemail recordings, video cameras, cell phone audio recordings, and computer files. Both audio and video collection, preservation, and analysis may prove crucial in legal contexts, such as criminal investigations, courtroom proceedings, and civil disputes, where such evidence can play a significant role in your case.

Obtaining Critical Evidence from Audio or Video Recordings

At LCG Discovery Experts, our experts are trained in the collection, preservation, analysis, and enhancement of both audio and video recordings/files.  Our team uses state-of-the-art audio and video analysis tools and software to examine these files for a variety of critical evidence, including origination, enhancement, source, timeline, and, of course, content.  Nearly every case will have either video or audio evidence (or both) that our experts can analyze and provide you with the evidence you need to prove (or disprove) an allegation.

Our Audio and Video Forensics Services Include:

  • Audio/Video Authentication:  Verification of whether a video is original or has been altered/tampered with, including the analysis of metadata, video encoding details, and indicators of manipulation.
  • Enhancement and Restoration:  Using advanced tools, improve video quality or recover details obscured by poor resolution, noise, or other distortions. For video, this may include sharpening images, adjusting brightness and contrast, or stabilizing shaky footage.  For Audio, this may consist of noise reduction, echo removal, and equalization to make the audio more intelligible and usable as evidence.

  • Content Analysis:  Examination of both the visual and audio elements to identify people, objects, places, or events. It may include facial recognition, object tracking, or sound analysis to interpret and understand the context of the video.
